Farrukh Abbas has over 30 years’ experience in manufacturing, distribution, management and private equity. In his current capacity as Chief Operating Officer at Nasser Bin Khaled & Sons (NBK), Farrukh executes the strategic targets and manages the day to day operations. He also sits on the board of several companies including Centegy Technologies and Global Bank Assurance and is on the management board of NBK.
Farrukh was appointed Country Head of Pakistan where he revitalised one of Abraaj Capital's highest profile investments, the Karachi Electric Supply Company, to profitability through deep restructuring and focused implementation of the value creation plan. Prior to his role at Abraaj Capital, Farrukh was General Manager of Coca-Cola in Malaysia, turning it around from a net loss business to double digit growth in just two years.
Hani Abdo is a focused, energetic and driven investment and operations executive with over 18 years of experience with blue chip organizations, family groups and private equity.
In his current capacity as an Executive Director at Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani & Sons Holding Company (“NBK”), Hani has strategic and operating roles at the group level and sits as a Board member on several of NBK’s operating entities. He is the mastermind behind NBK’s strategic road map whereby he has made explicit recommendations on restructuring, divestments, as well as new investments in order to meet the Shareholder’s aspirations over a 10 year time horizon and prepare NBK for a market opportunity. Hani drove the entire consolidation and restructuring of the group’s debt and put together a robust plan to optimize the group’s balance sheet. He drafted specific value accretive strategic initiatives that aim at institutionalizing the group and putting it on the path to a market event by 2020. Operationally, Hani is responsible for the growth and development of 10 operating entities and 8 joint venture partnerships.
In his capacity as Vice President at Abraaj Capital he executed and managed transactions with an aggregate enterprise value of US$ 3 billion in various industries including grocery retail, aviation, healthcare, distribution, media, FMCG, education, manufacturing. He has also worked closely with members of the asset management team exploring large cap investments in commodities (gold and copper operating entities).
